Job Description: 

Grade 2 Hand Therapist- Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist

  • Full Time, Fixed Term until 7 January 2027
  • Provide excellent clinical assessment and therapy for RMH patients including varied trauma caseload

About the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH):

The Allied Health Department offers a collaborative, multidisciplinary team culture with a strong focus on learning and development. The role is supported by a Grade 4 Clinical Leader, senior clinicians, an OT Research Lead, and the OT Manager, with structured supervision and clear opportunities for career growth.

The Grade 2 Hand Therapist is expected to have established clinical knowledge and skills in hand therapy, including assessment, intervention planning, splint fabrication and outpatient case load. Delivering safe and effective clinical care for patients is a key aspect of this role.

Your new role:

  • Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist with well-established clinical experience and skills in plastics / hand therapy to join our dynamic multidisciplinary surgery team.
  • A clinical caseload is largely traumatic injuries both in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • You will work alongside a dedicated and skilled team of clinicians.
  • You will support, teach and train grade 1 staff members, students and allied health assistants
  • Clinical education and professional development are encouraged and supported

About you:

  • Ability to provide excellent, evidence based and patient centred care including assessment, intervention, splint fabrication and discharge planning for patients
  • Ability to manage a demanding workload, effectively prioritise tasks, and contribute to service development
  • Supervise and educate junior hand therapists, allied health assistants and allied health students
  • You value working with supportive and dedicated Hand Therapists and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience in Hand Therapy
