Job Description: 

Grade 2 Clinical or Health Psychologist

 Provide clinical/health psychology services across two roles (up to 0.6 EFT, Fixed term)

  • 0.3EFT in general outpatient and inpatient Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on oncology services
  • 0.3EFT in surgical prehabilitation in a multi-disciplinary preoperative clinic for predominantly Head and Neck, Orthopaedic and Colorectal and Hepatobiliary surgical cohorts.  
  • Fixed term contract 12 months for 0.3 general role and until 30/6/25 for 0.3 Prehab role.  
  • Based at Parkville (City) campus

Allied Health - Psychology are a dynamic team comprised of neuropsychologists, clinical psychologists and health psychologists. There is a strong culture of clinical research in both teams with a number of research projects underway. 

Your new role:  

  • Complete psychological assessments with inpatients and outpatient in the Clinical Psychology service, particularly for Oncology unit referrals and also for surgical prehabilitation and post-operative support planning.  
  • Provide psychological interventions to assist people referred to general clinical psychology services and pre-surgical patients with mental health symptoms, coping with their medical condition and engaging with treatment.  
  • Assist the treating team in understanding the patients in their care, including how to work effectively with the patient.  
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to achieve high standards of patient care.  
  • Work flexibly across the range of Allied Health Psychology services according to demand. You will work within a pooled referral model across the hospital with inpatients and outpatients and in subacute and acute services.

  • A patient-centred approach to your work.  
  • Enjoy working within a multidisciplinary team and have a collaborative working style.  
  • A role that involves supporting people with medical conditions, particularly those with cancer, and are familiar with psychological issues that might impact on elective surgery preparedness and surgical outcomes.  
  • Effective communication skills and a passion for continued professional development.  
  • An AHPRA registered clinical or health psychologist with a passion for public health.
