Job Description: 

Grade 3 Allied Health Assistant

  • Full-time or part-time permanent role within the General Medical inpatient team
  • Primarily based at RMH City Campus

RMH part of the Parkville Precinct, is one of Australia’s leading public hospitals, offering a comprehensive range of specialist medical, surgical, and mental health services, as well as rehabilitation, aged care, specialist clinics, and community programs.

Our Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology service employs over 200 staff across the City Campus in Parkville and the Royal Park Campus. We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced Grade 3 Allied Health Assistant to join our Physiotherapy service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide inpatient Physiotherapy and Allied Health support and interventions within the scope of practice as determined by supervising Allied Health Clinicians.
  • Continue to develop and broaden skills and knowledge as an Allied Health Assistant.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary staff.
  • Support the leadership and coordination of other Allied Health Assistants and Allied Health Assistant student placements across The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
  • Assist in managing and prioritising Allied Health Assistant caseloads during weekdays and weekends.

About you: 

  • Hold an Allied Health Assistant Certificate IV (or equivalent) with a minimum of three years’ experience (full-time equivalent) at Grade 2 level or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
  • Adaptable and thrive in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Passionate about patient-centred care, with the ability to follow guidance from Physiotherapists and Allied Health clinicians.
  • Hold a current Victorian driver’s license and possess basic swimming skills.
