Exome Coordinator – Genetics Support Officer Genomic Medicine & Familial Cancer Centre

  • Part Time Ongoing position – 16 hours per fortnight
  • Join the Genomic Medicine & Familial Cancer Centre at The Royal Melbourne Hospital
  • Work alongside a specialist genetic counselling and clinical genetics team

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is one of Victoria's leading public health services, renowned for excellence, innovation and compassionate care. We are currently seeking a motivated Genetics Support Officer to join our team and support the exome testing program at RMH.

This is a unique opportunity to work within a specialist genomics service, providing essential administrative, data management and case coordination support to Genetic Counsellors and Clinical Geneticists who care for patients and families undergoing exome testing. The role is primarily based at the RMH City Campus, with occasional attendance at clinics and meetings across Alliance hospitals and research organisations.

About you

  • Completed, or working toward, a health science degree such as a Masters of Health Sciences (Genetic Counselling/Genomics and Health) or equivalent
  • Experience in the field of human genetics
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities with high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong IT skills and confidence
  • Commitment to The Melbourne Way – people first, leading with kindness, excellence together

Desirable

  • Experience in a clinical genetics department
  • Proven ability to work using own initiative in a complex clinical environment
