Job Description:

Ward 9 West- OrthoMedical & ACE (Acute Care of the Elderly).
The Royal Melbourne Hospital

• Medication Endorsed Enrolled Nurse
• Part Time Ongoing, 48 hrs per fortnight

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

9 West is a 24 bed ward based at the RMH City Campus that comprises of the units of Acute Care Elderly (ACE) and OrthoMedical. Both of these units care for pts over 65 years of age.

The ACE patients are admitted with Acute medical issues that have achievable therapy goals to facilitate a discharge within approx. 7 days. Common ACE conditions are orthopaedic, neurological and general medical issues. These patients are retrieved directly from the Emergency Department or from AMU.

The OrthoMedical patients are admitted with a fractured NOF (eg fall) and require surgery with achievable therapy goals to facilitate discharge within approx. 7 days.

The diversity of these patient cohorts makes 9W a challenging and highly rewarding ward for nurses to exercise their acute clinical skills.

9 West provides an active intensive therapy model to assist the functional recovery of the older person during their acute phase and to facilitate safe and early discharge to the patient's place of residence.

As we aim to discharge patients within 7 days, it is essential 9W staff work together effectively as a team.

Following a Patient Centred "Model of Care" to facilitate best practice, 9W strives to achieve patient focused outcomes for both our patients, and their families. Our nursing staff work closely with our dedicated Medical and Allied Health team to achieve best outcomes for all patients.

About You:

The successful applicant will be a dynamic and self- motivated EEN, with a strong commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer focused care.
