Job Description: 

Director of Medical Imaging

Full time – 5-year Fixed Term, commencing July 2026

The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community-based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world-renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.

Unit Description:

With a commitment to advancing health for everyone, every day RMH Imaging provides

a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic imaging service for our patients and referrers, using

the most up to date equipment and dose reduction strategies.

RMH perform over 225,000 studies each year across our 3 sites, RMH Parkville, RMH Royal Park

and RMH Private Imaging.

Imaging modalities include:

  • Angiography
  • Computed Tomography (CT)
  • DEXA Scanning
  • Fluoroscopy
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Position Emission Tomography (PET)
  • Ultrasound
  • X-ray
  • Mammography

About the role:

The Imaging Director contributes to the overall leadership and management of Imaging Department within the Royal Melbourne Hospital and is responsible and accountable for the delivery of high-quality Imaging clinical services, education and research within the Imaging department within allocated resources. The Imaging Director will provide strategic, operational and financial leadership and has ultimate responsibility for achieving agreed performance targets for the department.

About You:

  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
  • MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
  • Fellowship of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists
  • Higher degree and previous leadership experience desirable but not essential
