Director Allergy and Immunology – 5-year Leadership position.
21 hours per fortnight, with the additional opportunities in the precinct for the role may be combined with.
The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of specialist medical, surgical, and mental health services, as well as rehabilitation, aged care, outpatient, and community programs. We are a designated state-wide provider for services including trauma, and we lead centres of excellence for tertiary services in several key specialties including neurosciences, nephrology, oncology, cardiology, and virtual health. We are also a proud part of the world-renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.
The Director of Allergy and Immunology will provide exceptional leadership in the delivery of patient-focused care within the Allergy and Immunology Unit and will demonstrate a commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, quality improvement, research, and education.
The Director of Allergy and Immunology will promote professional, productive, and collaborative relationships between key stakeholders in partnership with the Medical Director of Medical Services. Through this role the Director is responsible and accountable for the delivery of high-quality, cost effective, clinical services, education, and research for the Allergy & Immunology service. The Director of Allergy and Immunology is responsible for optimizing patient access and ensuring integrated high quality multidisciplinary health care is delivered across their unit.
The Role:
The Director of Allergy and Immunology will work in partnership with the Medical Director of Medical Services to deliver Safe, Timely, Equitable and Person-Centred care. As a senior leader, the Director of Allergy and Immunology contributes to the overall leadership and management of The Royal Melbourne Hospital, demonstrating the values of the Melbourne Way and Speaking up for Safety to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.

Key Accountabilities
- Provision of exceptional clinical leadership to the Allergy and Immunology Unit
- Active leadership, advocacy and representation of the Allergy and Immunology Unit interests at relevant committees, forums and meetings including Heads of Unit Meetings.
- Provide a safe working environment within your area of responsibility and ensure compliance with OH&W, anti-discrimination, equal opportunity & other legislative requirements.
- Provision of effective administrative leadership to the Allergy and Immunology Unit – including, but not limited to, rostering, recruitment, leave management, workforce planning and service planning.
Work directly with senior and junior medical staff to ensure the Allergy and Immunology Unit is an effective multidisciplinary team, fostering safe, inclusive and collaborative working relationships and professional behaviors
About You:
- MBBS or Equivalent
- Must hold or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- AHPRA Specialist Registration with Specialty Field Immunology and Allergy
