About the role

The ICU Clinical Nurse Manager supports the ICU Nurse Unit Manager in leading and developing staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

 

The role provides clinical leadership, supports workforce development, manages clinical risk, and drives quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

 

Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager, the Clinical Nurse Manager fosters a safe, collaborative environment for patients and staff while promoting Melbourne Health's values and ensuring the delivery of best practice care.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Lead and support a high-performing nursing team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative and psychologically safe team culture.
  • Coordinate patient flow, bed management and workforce allocation to meet service demands.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical standards and best practice.
  • Mentor, develop and support staff through coaching, education and performance development.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve excellent patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, risk management and service development.
  • Manage staffing resources responsibly while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Foster strong partnerships with patients, families and carers to deliver person-centred care.
  • Maintain a safe workplace and support a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

 

About You

 

  • Registered Nurse Division 1 (AHPRA) with at least 5 years’ leadership experience in an ICU setting.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven operational and leadership expertise in ICU.
  • Knowledge of IT systems and portfolio management.
  • Flexible availability and commitment to professional growth.
  • Demonstrates high-quality, patient-centred care and alignment with Melbourne Health values
