Clinical Nurse Consultant – Infection Prevention

- 80 hours per fortnight covering Mon-Fri business hours – including ADO.
- Full time permanent position (part-time considered).

- Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 5, ZA7/ZA8.
The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Infection Prevention and Surveillance Service. This is a Full time, permanent position, working 80 hours per fortnight including ADO, based at Royal Melbourne Hospital, City Campus.
Your Opportunity:
- Under supervision, participate in the development, delivery, reporting and evaluation of the infection prevention program.
- Sharing information and measuring and reporting performance which will allow assessment of IPC safety within patient groups/areas and inform practice decisions.
- Provide expert advice based upon evidence based practice, legislation, standards and guidelines and benchmarking against other recognised levels of national and international practice.
- Participates in the development of Infection Prevention policy and procedure and facilitates implementation and evaluation of same.
- Works in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders to promote patient centred care.
- Engage and collaborate with clinical groups and be recognised as a team of the multi-disciplinary clinical team.
- Supply tool kits, educational aides and supportive materials to assist clinical leaders to facilitate IPC change within their area.
- To participate in process improvement projects.
- Support a value system that holds staff, patients and visitors accountable for the IPC practice choices.
- Participates in the infection prevention roster for occupational exposures.
- Uses effective communication strategies to promote Infection Prevention strategies.
About You:
Essential:
- Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated communication and presentation skills.
- Familiar with the use of PC windows including Word and Excel.
- Experience in participating in a workplace project.
- Undertaken a post graduate course.
Desirable:
- Worked in an Infection Prevention team
- Infection prevention and control post graduate certificate/diploma.
- HIV pre and post-test counselling course.
- Hand hygiene auditor.
