About the Role

 

RMH Cardiology is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to join the team. The primary purpose of this role is to perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms for both inpatient and outpatient populations, contributing to the timely diagnosis and management of cardiovascular conditions. 

 

Working within a multidisciplinary environment, the Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for delivering safe, patient-centred, and evidence-based care while maintaining professional standards, ASAR accreditation, and compliance with organisational policies and risk management requirements.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Performance of transthoracic echocardiography (including provisional reports) on inpatients and outpatients
  • Ensure Echo images are downloaded to PACS system
  • Assistance with transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) as required including intra-operative TOE.
  • Performance under supervision of stress echocardiography including both exercise and dobutamine.
  • Participate in an afterhours on call roster
  • Work in your scope of practice and seek help where required.

 

About You

 

  • Bachelor of Science/Applied Science in a relevant field
  • Postgraduate studies in Echocardiography
  • Current registration with the Australian Sonography Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
  • A proven record in teaching and leadership with the ability to impart knowledge to staff at all levels and across services, as well as members of the wider community
  • Previous experience in Cardiology

 

Desirable

  • Experience in Congenital Heart Disease
