Lead with purpose at one of Victoria’s most iconic health institutions. As the Business Manager you will provide business support and financial leadership to the VIDRL, VICNISS and Guidance Portfolio.
This role provides strategic finance business partnering to the Victorian Infection Disease Reference Laboratory (VIDRL), Victorian Healthcare Associated Infection Surveillance System (VICNISS), and Guidance, with a focus on delivering financial insight, robust budgeting and forecasting, performance analysis, and commercial advice. Reporting to the Associate Finance Director and working closely with program directors, the position oversees financial planning, contract management, grant acquittals, and audit coordination. It plays a key role in driving business and system improvements, supporting stakeholder relationships, and leading a small team to ensure high-quality financial services across operational and capital activities within RMH’s Business Services portfolio.
Your New Role
- Provide strategic financial support to VIDRL, VICNISS, and Guidance, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Manage financial planning and reporting for operational and capital budgets, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organisational goals.
- Oversee contract financials, grant acquittals, and audits, working closely with scientists, procurement, and legal teams.
- Deliver commercial advice, identify business development opportunities, and drive operational and system improvements.
- Lead and develop a small finance team, ensuring delivery of KPIs and high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders.
About You
- Qualified finance professional with strong expertise in management accounting, financial planning, and business analysis.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, ideally within a complex healthcare or research environment.
- Proven ability to provide commercial advice, manage contracts, and support business development initiatives.
- Confident working with senior stakeholders and can communicate financial insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrate leadership capability, with experience managing and developing small teams to deliver high performance.
