The Breast Service at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, in collaboration with the Women’s Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, is seeking a passionate and experienced Breast Care Nurse – Reconstruction to join our team.
This role offers flexibility and may be performed remotely, with on-site presence required only for essential service or patient care needs.
You will play a key role in providing supportive care for patients undergoing breast reconstructive surgery, working within a multidisciplinary team across the VCCC precinct. The role focuses on psychosocial assessment, patient education, coordination of care, and ensuring seamless patient experiences across all stages of the treatment journey.
Your New Role
- Provide clinical expertise and emotional support to patients undergoing reconstructive breast surgery.
- Act as a key resource for patients, families, and clinical staff.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and services (RMH, RWH, PMCC).
- Attend MDMs and support coordination of Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) events.
- Contribute to care pathway development, service planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
About You:
- Registered Nurse with at least five years’ post-registration experience, and three years in breast care nursing or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualifications in breast cancer nursing, oncology, or palliative care.
- Demonstrated expertise in patient education, communication, and care coordination.
- Skilled in working autonomously and collaboratively across complex clinical environments.
Desirable: Previous experience supporting patients undergoing reconstructive surgery and knowledge of breast cancer research and trials.
