About RMH & The Team

RMH Mental Health Services provides specialist, recovery-oriented care for adults and older adults experiencing serious mental illness through inpatient, community and hospital-based programs.

We are seeking a passionate Art Therapist (Grade 2) to join our multidisciplinary team and deliver creative, evidence-based therapy that supports recovery. This is an exciting time to join the service as we lead major initiatives including the Victorian Collaborative Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing Service and the Statewide Trauma Service.


Your Role, Your Impact

Working closely with the Grade 3 Art Therapist and the broader Art Therapy workforce, you will deliver therapeutic interventions that support recovery, wellbeing and engagement for consumers experiencing serious mental illness.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering 1:1 and group art therapy interventions across inpatient, outpatient and medical settings
  • Contributing to the development and facilitation of group programs within the broader therapeutic program
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including occupational therapists, consultants and lived-experience staff and work with families and carers within a recovery-oriented framework
  • Contributing to creative, evidence-based mental health interventions

Essential Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Art Therapy
  • Experience working with consumers experiencing mental illness
  • Experience facilitating group therapy programs in mental health settings
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds and provide gender-sensitive services
  • Demonstrated commitment to trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice

Desirable

  • Experience in eating disorder treatment settings
  • Ability to speak a community language
  • Experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHO) or within the Social and Emotional Wellbeing model
