The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking a motivated Associate Nurse Unit Manager – Support Services to lead the coordination of surgical supplies, instruments, and consignment stock across our Perioperative Services.

In this role, you’ll support theatre operations by ensuring timely access to equipment and consumables, while liaising with clinical teams, supply, CSSD, and vendors. You’ll also contribute to education, data management, and quality improvement—ideal for a detail-oriented nurse leader who thrives in a systems-focused, collaborative environment.

Your New Role:

  • Provide visible leadership in the management of surgical instruments, equipment, loans, consignment and specialty stock
  • Support Clinical and Floor ANUMs to ensure theatres are prepared with correct and timely resources
  • Work closely with the Clinical Business Manager and Procurement Teams to manage orders, contracts, and product life cycles
  • Coordinate and oversee product trials in collaboration with clinical teams and external representatives
  • Act as a resource for clinical and support staff in systems such as hTrak, FMIS and inventory cataloguing
  • Ensure the availability and tracking of patient-specific and surgeon-preference items
  • Monitor compliance with product expiry, contract requirements, and usage trends
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives that enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability

About You:

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in perioperative nursing, with strong product and equipment knowledge
  • High-level skills in communication, coordination, and system navigation
  • Confident working both independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Skilled in digital platforms such as hTrak, FMIS, Microsoft Office and EMR
  • Demonstrated commitment to RMH values: People First, Lead with Kindness, Excellence Together
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational ability, and professional conduct
  • Passionate about process improvement, resource efficiency, and staff support

 Desirable: Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing or Healthcare Management; EMR trained
