The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) – Floor Coordinator to take a key leadership role in the delivery of safe, timely and effective surgical care across our 16-theatre operating suite. As one of Melbourne’s busiest tertiary trauma centres, our Perioperative Services team delivers care across a wide range of complex surgical procedures and specialties.

The Perioperative Services Department includes 16 theatres, 25 recovery bays, 3 off-floor anaesthetic areas, 3 West Day Procedure Unit, 3 East/23-hour Unit, and Central Sterilising Services (CSSD).

Your New Role:

  • Coordinating workforce allocations and ensuring safe clinical staffing in line with service demands and EBA requirements
  • Acting as a visible and approachable leader on the floor, supporting staff, resolving issues, and promoting a psychologically safe workplace
  • Collaborating with the Anaesthetic Consultant in Charge, Recovery and Surgical Teams to deliver safe and efficient theatre utilisation
  • Facilitating theatre list coordination and timely patient access for both emergency and elective procedures
  • Escalating operational challenges in real-time and ensuring accurate communication across stakeholders
  • You'll be part of a rotating roster, contributing to consistent service coverage 

About You:

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Perioperative Services
  • Proven leadership and communication skills in a complex clinical environment
  • Ability to coordinate theatre operations and staff allocations in a fast-paced setting
  • Skilled in clinical reasoning, prioritisation, and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Strong IT literacy and familiarity with hospital systems and Microsoft Office
  • Postgraduate qualification in perioperative nursing or leadership (desirable)
