Unit Description:
As one of the subunits of Neurology, The Epilepsy Unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital offers a comprehensive range of inpatients and outpatient services. Prolonged scalp and intracranial video-EEG monitoring is carried out on Ward 8B within the clinical neurology ward. Evaluation modalities for surgical candidates include high resolution volumetric MRI, ictal SPECT, PET, fMRI, diffusion and perfusion MRI, EEG source analysis, polysomnography, neuropsychology and neuropsychiatry. In addition to drug therapy and surgery, other treatment modalities offered include the traditional and modified ketogenic diet and the vagus nerve stimulation.
About the role:
- Play a key role in the coordination of patient care in epilepsy
- Participate in weekly Epilepsy and First Seizure Clinics
- Participation in daily EEG Reporting
- Attendance of weekly research and departmental meetings
About You:
- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
- MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications who have trained and completed core years of Neurology training (or local equivalent)
