The Royal Melbourne Hospital is part of the Greater Western Basic Physician Training Consortium (GWC). The objectives of the GWC are to improve, and make more equitable, the standard of basic physician training across all of its member health services - and for this to be reflected in the quality and adequacy of the basic physician trainee workforce in the GWC.
RMH trainees each rotate to one of our rural partners for at least two separate rotations over the course of two years. In addition to the objectives of the GWC by way of providing workforce to our rural counterparts, it is our belief that the rotations provide you an experience unique to rural health services which you would not receive by remaining at RMH for the entirety of your training. It is an expectation and condition of application that if you are asked to rotate to one of our rural partners, you do so.
