This is a Fixed term Full Time Parental Leave Cover commencing 18th May 2026 or 3rd August 2026 and ending 31 January 2027.

Unit Description:

The Rheumatology Department at Melbourne Health is a major rheumatology service, acting as a tertiary referral centre for North-Western Melbourne and rural Victoria. The Department deals with the care of complex patients with multi-organ inflammatory and autoimmune disease, as well as more common musculoskeletal diseases. The Department provides outpatient and inpatient care as well as an inpatient consult service at RMH and precinct partners. The Department has active teaching, training and clinical research programs.

 

About the role:

  • The Rheumatology Registrar is responsible for the management of patients under the care of the Department of Rheumatology. This includes outpatients, rheumatology inpatients and inpatient consults
  • The registrar works under the supervision of Consultants within the Department and other senior medical staff of the hospital.
  • The Registrar is expected to participate in clinical practice, regular audits and meetings, teaching, research and clinical governance activities in accordance with Department objectives
  • The Registrar contributes to after hours on call and weekend rheumatology rosters

 

About You:

  • General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
  • Successfully passed FRACP written and clinical examination
  • Clinical experience in rheumatology
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Well-developed communication and presentation skills.
