Principal Clinical Psychologist
The Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services

  • Lead psychology practice and workforce development across RMH Mental Health Services
  • Contribute to mental health reform through the Victorian Collaborative Centre and Statewide Trauma Service
  • Full-time, ongoing leadership role based in Parkville

 

About The Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services (RMH MHS)
At the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) Mental Health Services (MHS), we provide person-centred, recovery-oriented care for adults and older adults living with, or at risk of developing, serious mental illness. Our multi-disciplinary workforce includes clinicians and Lived and Living Experience (LLE) experts, who together deliver trauma-informed, holistic and evidence-based care that includes families, carers and kin.

The Principal Clinical Psychologist provides professional leadership across RMH Mental Health Services. You will coordinate and promote evidence-based psychological practice, contribute to clinical services and education, and support the development and wellbeing of the psychology workforce. This role reports professionally to the Director of Psychology and operationally to the Director of Allied Health & Development and Learning.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and promote best-practice, evidence-based psychological care across all RMH programs
  • Provide expert consultation, supervision and professional governance for psychologists and students
  • Partner with tertiary institutions to support trainee pathways and future workforce development
  • Contribute to workforce planning, recruitment and retention strategies
  • Support and promote research, evaluation and innovation in psychological programs and interventions
  • Work closely with the Psychology Leadership Team, Allied Health and Discipline Leads to ensure excellence in service delivery

About you:

  • You are an experienced and collaborative leader who is passionate about advancing psychology practice within public mental health.
  • You have significant experience as a senior clinical psychologist in mental health settings
  • A track record of providing leadership, supervision and workforce development
  • Strong consultation skills with the ability to influence practice across disciplines
  • Commitment to person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care
  • An interest in contributing to education, research and service innovation
