Biomedical Engineer – Perioperative Services
The Royal Melbourne Hospital

 

  • Part Time Ongoing position
  • 42 hours per fortnight; fixed shifts Thursday to Saturday
  • Work with a diverse and supportive team


The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is seeking a Grade 3 Biomedical Engineer to support our Perioperative Services team. This pivotal role ensures the safe operation, maintenance, and procurement of medical equipment across all perioperative areas, including the Main Operating Suite, 3 West Day Procedure Unit and CSSD.

Your new role:

  • Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance schedules for perioperative medical equipment.
  • Manage equipment contracts and asset registers.
  • Support procurement processes, equipment trials, and business case development.
  • Act as a key liaison between Clinical Teams, Procurement, Supply, and Engineering.

About You:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Biomedical) or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in biomedical equipment management within a perioperative or acute hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and medical equipment compliance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Eligible for Engineers Australia membership.
