The Royal Melbourne Hospital

  • Full-time, ongoing. Based in Parkville
  • Base Salary $105,000 - $115,000 (depending on experience) 
  • Coach and support leaders and staff to strengthen ownership of OHS

 

About RMH & The Team

The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is one of Victoria’s largest and most well-respected public health services, providing outstanding care, research, and innovation 24 hours, 7 days a week. Our People & Culture team are looking for a proactive, experience safety culture expert to provide coaching, advise and practical support to our managers, Health & Safety Representative (HSRs) and our employees. 

The role will support the hospital’s OHS Management System, partnering with teams to identify hazards and manage risks, investigate incidents, and develop effective controls.

You will partner with clinical and non-clinical teams to implement the OHS Management System, identify and manage risk, investigate incidents, and support the development of effective controls. The focus is practical, proportionate and aligned to operational realities.

 

What will you do?

  • Coach leaders and teams to build ownership of health, safety and wellbeing
  • Provide clear, practical OHS advice, education and training
  • Partner with teams to identify hazards, assess risk and implement controls
  • Support incident investigations and share learnings to prevent recurrence
  • Maintain accurate records and use data to inform improvement activity
  • Work within scope, seek feedback and align to RMH policies and values

 

What will you Bring?

To be successful you will have:

  • Strong working knowledge of OHS legislation and at least three years’ experience in complex environments
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and support cultural change
  • Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation and reporting systems
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Desirable experience in healthcare OHS, psychosocial safety, change management or auditing
