Mental Health Services is collaborating with the Royal Melbourne Hospital Digital Coordination Centre (DCC) to promote Safe, Timely, Effective and Person-centred Care (STEP). This new role will be an integral member of the team in the DCC, using real time data to enable timely access to inpatient mental health care.
Your new role:
- Promote timely care for actual and potential demand for bed-based services.
- Identify and escalate barriers to timely admission to bed-based services, concurrently supporting complex discharge planning from the ED where MHS community care is indicated.
- Works closely with the Emergency Department (ED), RMH acute health, the Adult Acute Inpatient Unit (AAIPU), Community MHS, Manager Older Adults Mental Health and the DCC.
- Operates as a shared role from Monday to Sunday and requires a commitment to a rotating roster.
About you:
You will bring
- Demonstrated competence in assessment and disposition planning
- Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence
- Active engagement in clinical supervision and reflective practice
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and supporting the learning of colleagues
- Exceptional problem-solving skills in fast-paced, complex environments
- Formal qualifications and registration as a Mental Health Nurse under the Mental Health & Wellbeing Act (2002)
- Experience in bed-based, community and/or access point settings (highly regarded)
