Manager of Research Nurses

Snow Centre for Immune Health

The Royal Melbourne Hospital

  • Full Time (or 0.8–1.0 FTE), Fixed Term Position (12 months with the potential to extend)
  • Lead and coordinate a multi-project clinical research nursing program
  • This role will support the Snow Centre for Immune Health’s objectives across its clinical research portfolio.

The Snow Centre for Immune Health brings together top-tier researchers in immune disease, clinicians, and partner organisations. Funded by an initial $100 million commitment over 10 years, this partnership between WEHI and the Royal Melbourne Hospital is one of the largest philanthropic efforts in Australian history.

The Centre will transform immune system research, diagnostics, and treatments through integrated research and clinical practices. Central to this is a longitudinal study of patients and volunteers, supported by a highly coordinated research nursing team led by the Research Nurse Manager.

As the Snow Centre Research Nurse Manager, you will:

  • Lead the Snow Centre research nursing team, supporting delivery of a diverse clinical research portfolio
  • Oversee study coordination, workforce planning, and participant recruitment across multiple projects
  • Work closely with investigators, clinicians, and stakeholders to drive high-quality research outcomes
  • Ensure studies are conducted efficiently and in compliance with ethical, regulatory, and institutional requirements

Your role will involve:

  • Leading day-to-day management of a large, multi-project clinical research program
  • Providing supervision, training, and operational oversight of the research nursing team
  • Coordinating study start-up, implementation, and close-out activities
  • Managing ethics and governance submissions, amendments, and reporting
  • Developing and maintaining project and nursing operational plans, including staffing, recruitment, and visit schedules
  • Monitoring study progress, data quality, enrolment, and milestones
  • Ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice and relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Supporting audits, monitoring activities, and reporting of deviations or adverse events
  • Contributing to budgeting, resource management, and financial tracking

About you:

  • Experienced research nurse with demonstrated leadership and team management capability
  • Strong background in coordinating clinical research projects within hospital or research environments
  • Sound understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and ethical research requirements
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
