  • 18-month, Full Time, Fixed Term opportunity
  • Senior Leadership role within RMH Communications
  • Design & deliver major communications projects across the Parkville Precent

The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is one of Australia’s leading public healthcare providers, offering world-class clinical services, research, and education. We provide expert care 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Reporting to the Head, Communications and Public Affairs, this is a senior leadership role that will design and deliver the communications functions for several exciting major projects in the Parkville Health Precinct. In the first instance, this role will focus on the Pathology Network West transformation, uniting the pathology services of the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Women’s Hospital. 

 

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including media, government advisors, and health sector leaders
  • Lead communications strategy, incorporating digital, media, publications, change and engagement
  • Identify and manage complex stakeholder dynamics and risks in evolving contexts
  • Apply sound judgement and insight into stakeholder and public sentiment
  • Drive consensus and messaging in the face of trepidation or uncertainty
  • Leverage your deep understanding of the Parkville Health Precinct landscape

 

To be successful, you will need:

  • 10+ years' experience in communications, ideally in health, government, or not-for-profit sectors
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering effective engagement and communications initiatives
  • Deep understanding of public affairs, reputation management and media relations
  • Experience managing crisis communications and delivering proactive media campaigns
  • Demonstrated experience across digital, media, events, branding and social media portfolios
  • Natural relationship-builder with experience liaising across all levels, including government
