  • Full-time Ongoing position, 80 hours per fortnight including ADO
  • Drive health information governance at Orygen, ensuring compliance and data integrity
  • Located in Parkville, Melbourne’s central healthcare hub

Join our dynamic team at Orygen, where you’ll play a key a role as a Health Information Manager. You’ll collaborate closely with the Health Information Management team to ensure the governance, integrity, and security of health information across various clinical settings. This pivotal role involves supporting staff, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, all while working in the heart of Parkville’s healthcare community.

About the role:

  • Lead the governance of health information across Orygen, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to enhance data integrity and reporting processes
  • Develop and deliver training to staff on health information management and legislative changes
  • Support the operational rollout of health information processes across community, inpatient, and residential settings
  • Contribute to the ongoing transformation and reform of mental health services, including the current transition of Orygen Specialist Program from Melbourne Health project (ensuring smooth integration of health information systems)

 

About you

Formal Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Health Information Management, or equivalent, and Eligibility for membership of Health Information Management Association of Australia

 

Essential

  • Previous health information management experience in a healthcare service, with expertise in health information systems, data analysis and performance monitoring, particularly for mental health services and clinical classification using ICD-10-AM
  • Understanding of Victorian health service datasets and funding models
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders on Health Information matters
  • Experience in leading change
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and uphold ethics and confidentiality in health-related roles
  • Unrestricted right to live and work in Australia

 

Desirable

  • Understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 (Vic), Health Records Act 2001 (Vic), Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), and other legislation relating to health information management
  • Experience working in a public mental health service
  • Experience in upskilling or providing education and training to clinical and/or administrative staff
  • Experience in managing staff/teams
