Job Description: 

Technical Officer – Prosthetics & Orthotics

  • Full Time - Grade 2
  • Royal Melbourne Hospital – Royal Park Campus

Are you practical, hands-on, and passionate about helping people regain independence and mobility? Join our Prosthetics & Orthotics team at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and play a key role in supporting patients through their rehabilitation journey.

Your new role

As a Technical Officer, you’ll:

  • Manufacture custom orthopaedic devices designed and fitted by Prosthetists/Orthotists

  • Use skills in plastic moulding, fibre lamination, CAD, 3D printing, and safe power tool operation

  • Manage stock and ensure workshop safety

  • Mentor junior Technical Officers, students, and clinical staff in fabrication techniques

About you

  • Experienced in prosthetics & orthotics is desirable and will consider technical trade field valued and on the job training is provided

  • Applications from Orthopaedic Technologists/plaster technicians and Allied Health Assistants is encouragedTeam-oriented with strong communication skills
  • Team oriented with strong communication skilss
  • Detail-focused and confident working to deadlines

  • Keen to share your knowledge and support junior colleagues
