The Department of Neurosurgery provides a comprehensive inpatient service for patients with neurosurgical diseases, with a clinical and referral service for patients with intracranial, spinal and peripheral nerve disorders requiring neurosurgical assessment and treatment. There are 16 Neurosurgeons, 3 Fellows, 9 Registrars and 10 Residents (HMOs) within the Department.
The essential role of the Executive Assistant (EA) is to provide secretarial and administrative support to the Director, Department of Neurosurgery. The role encompasses a broad range of individual functions that are essential to support the smooth running of the Department.
Your New Role
In this diverse and rewarding role, you will:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the department, ensuring efficient coordination of daily operations.
- Rostering of consultants on-call and theatre.
- Coordinate department activity and manage conferences, events, and meetings.
- Support department recruitment processes and HR related administration.
- Provide extensive diary and email management for senior staff.
- Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a professional and responsive approach.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
About You
- Proven experience in a busy administrative or executive support role, preferably within healthcare or a complex organisation.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and confidence using hospital or HR information systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive approach and commitment to supporting high-quality patient care and service excellence.
