Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Clinical Informatics Officer

  • Full time, 12-month fixed term position
  • Design and develop EMR functionality to enable data capture

About the Role:

The EMR Clinical Informatics Officer (CIO) will play a pivotal role in supporting the Snow Centre for Immune Health – a landmark collaboration between The Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. 

This position is responsible for scoping, designing, building, testing, and implementing EMR functionality to enable data capture for both clinical and research purposes.  Working closely with researchers, clinicians, and operational staff, the role ensures accurate, efficient, and secure data entry within the Epic EMR system.  The CIO will also liaise with EMR reporting, the Clinical Informatics Centre, and Health Intelligence teams to facilitate robust data extraction and reporting for cohort tracking and research use.  In addition, the role includes providing end-user support and delivering training to clinical and research staff to promote adoption of EMR tools and workflows.

 

About you:

Qualification

  • A tertiary qualification in a related field

Essential

  • Experience working in a tertiary hospital, clinical or research setting
  • Strong understanding of EMR functionality for clinical workflows, documentation, and research data capture
  • Ability to translate clinical or research needs into practical EMR solutions
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills, collaborating with clinicians, researchers, operational teams, and external partners
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy, especially for patient data capture

Desirable

  • Epic EMR build certification
  • Previous experience working with RMH, Epic EMR, or clinical research projects
  • Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams across clinical and research settings
  • Knowledge of immune health, immunology research, or clinical cohort studies
