The Position
The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) seeks to appoint an accomplished and purpose‑driven leader as Director, Royal Melbourne Hospital Foundation. This critical leadership appointment comes at a pivotal time for both the Foundation and the broader organisation, with responsibility for leading the Foundation’s strategic priorities, fundraising performance, marketing and advocacy activities. Working closely with the Chief Corporate Officer, Executive, Board and Foundation Committee the Director serves as the principal ambassador for philanthropy across the organisation and will ensure fundraising outcomes translate into meaningful impact for patients, research and healthcare innovation.
Reporting to the Chief Corporate Officer, the Director leads the Foundation's full suite of fundraising, marketing and stakeholder engagement activities while building a high-performing, engaged and capable team. This appointment presents a significant opportunity to shape the future contribution of the Foundation and establish a sustainable platform for long-term growth. Key priorities include strengthening the Foundation's profile, reputation and influence both internally and externally, diversifying revenue streams, and expanding philanthropic reach through major gifts, corporate and community partnerships, and strategic stakeholder engagement.
The successful candidate will be an experienced fundraising or philanthropy executive with a proven track record delivering sustainable growth and organisational impact in complex, mission‑led environments. They will bring experience across major gifts, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, campaigns, appeals and bequests, together with strong commercial acumen and the ability to build capability within teams. A visible and authentic leader, the appointee will combine strategic vision with operational discipline, inspire a high‑performing team and build trusted relationships with philanthropists, corporate partners, clinicians, executive leaders and board members.
