Clinical Psychologist - Community Mental Health

  • Part-Time, Fixed-Term to opportunity until August 2026.
  • Flexible Roster with some afternoon and weekend shifts
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus 17.5% leave loading!

The Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services provides a supportive and collaborative environment, delivering evidence-based care for consumers and carers living with serious mental illness.

Our Waratah Clinic is based in the heart of the Puckle Street Moonee Ponds precinct, surrounded by cafes, parks and excellent public transport.

We are seeking a Community Mental Health Clinician (Clinical Psychologist, Grade 2) to join our team and provide evidence-based treatments and interventions to support consumers with complex mental health needs and their families/carers.

 

About the role:

  • Drive self-development; contribute expertise in clinical meetings and to improve service delivery.
  • Participate in supervision and provide supervision to students and colleagues as required.
  • Actively lead in discipline specific and multidisciplinary team activities and meetings.
  • Support the team to drive high standards of service provision.
  • Provide expert opinion regarding diagnostic impressions, formal diagnostic assessments, feedback on process considerations and treatment planning considerations/advice.
  • Apply sound treatment skills for people with severe and enduring mental health conditions, and have willingness and capacity to commit to development of evidence based knowledge and practice.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the team (e.g. workload management, support staff with clinical decision-making, orientation). 

 

About you:

  • Registration as a Psychologist under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) with practice endorsement as a Clinical, Forensic or Clinical Neuro Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Experience in at least one area of practice that aligns with the endorsed practice domains of the RMH MHS and have capacity and willingness to actively work using these approaches with consumers and carers.
  • Current knowledge of effective evidence-based interventions appropriate to low prevalence disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorder and substance abuse.
  • Committed to developing your practice as a professional in clinical mental health.
  • Can contribute and function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and enjoy working autonomously.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software use and information technology on the Microsoft Windows platform and ability to learn new programs and navigate databases
  • Hold a current Victorian Driver’s Licence, and ongoing ability to use this form of transport
