About the Role

 

The Department of Nephrology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital hosts one of Australia’s largest dialysis and kidney transplantation services, with a strong emphasis on research excellence and the integration of clinical trials into routine care.

 

The Clinical Trial Coordinator supports the delivery of high-quality clinical trials within the nephrology service, working closely with the Clinical Trials Manager, Principal Investigators, and multidisciplinary teams.

 

This role is integral to ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient conduct of clinical trials, enabling patient access to innovative therapies. 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day conduct of studies
  • Support the coordination and conduct of clinical trials, ensuring compliance with GCP, institutional guidelines, and trial protocols.
  • Schedule and coordinate trial-related procedures, visits, and assessments with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Liaise with sponsors, CROs, monitors, and the RMH Office for Research to ensure timely resolution of queries, monitor visits, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Trials Manager and Principal Investigators to support study feasibility, start up, ethics and governance submissions, and contract execution.
  • Coordinate participant recruitment, informed consent, screening, enrolment, and follow-up processes in accordance with approved protocols.

 

About You

 

  • Degree in health, life sciences, or related field; GCP certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Clinical research experience in hospital, academic, sponsor, or CRO settings.
  • Knowledge of ICH-GCP, Australian clinical trial regulations, and study governance processes.
  • Experience supporting clinical trial activities, including participant screening, data entry, monitoring, and study coordination.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, organisational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • High professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and clinical trial systems (e.g., EDC, eCRF, CTMS).

 

Desirable

  • Experience with investigational products and regulated clinical trial environments.
  • Background in nephrology, transplantation, or chronic disease research.
  • Exposure to trial financial management, invoicing, and reconciliation.
  • Experience with clinical data management, monitoring, and query resolution.
  • Understanding of multi-site studies and the broader clinical research environment.
