Clinical Nurse Consultant – Breast Service
The Royal Melbourne Hospital

 

  • Fixed term for 5 months, 11/05/26 - 04/10/26
  • Part Time, 64 hours per fortnight
  • Parkville location, close to public transport

 

The RMH Breast Service is a multidisciplinary focused service that manages the care of patients with breast cancer. The service provides inpatient and outpatient care, with several dedicated Breast Service clinics and multidisciplinary meetings a week.

 

Your Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated nurse with Breast cancer nursing experience to join our team to fill a temporary position for 5 months. 

The Breast Service CNCs works closely with the Breast Service Consultants and other members of the team to provide high quality care. The CNC provides an initial and primary support role for patients, and continuity of care within the multidisciplinary team. The CNC contributes integrally through collaboration with the MD team, to the co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of care for patients with breast cancer, their families/carers. This care is provided at any point in the trajectory of disease from early or advanced breast cancer diagnosis, through treatment, follow-up or palliation.

Primarily, the CNC assesses psychosocial and informational needs, and provides appropriate clinical advice, support, education, resources, and referral to health services, in order to meet individual patient needs. The aim is to optimise patient outcomes in psychosocial adjustment and problem solve to provide a seamless progression through the patient’s journey. 

The CNC is a resource and educator for clinical staff in the support and management of patients with breast conditions and contributes to service development, quality improvement activities, research and evidence based clinical care.

 

About You:

We are looking for a special nurse to join our team

  • Proven capacity to work independently as well as within a team setting
  • Strong capacity to influence and support change and a patient centred culture of service delivery
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The enthusiasm and motivation to educate staff
  • Clinical expertise to provide day to day service delivery whilst exploring new ways of working across the clinical teams
  • Experience with breast oncology and chronic disease management desirable
