Orygen Specialist Program is a program of the Mental Health Service at Royal Melbourne Hospital. Orygen @ Home is an acute service providing early intervention to young people with severe and complex mental illness within the home environment.
Orygen @ Home offers 24/7 multidisciplinary mental health care for young people aged 12–25 and their families in Melbourne's northwest and western suburbs. The team provides tailored support, including mental and risk assessments, medication, therapy (CBT and other targeted approaches), family-inclusive care, vocational support, intensive outreach, and crisis intervention.

About the role:
The Senior Mental Health Clinician supports the provision of comprehensive clinical acute mental health care to young people and families of the Orygen @ Home program. Provide leadership within the rotating roster to other staff with the program and play a key role in providing this comprehensive care within the Orygen @ Home model.
In this role you will:
- Partner with young people and their families/carers to provide inpatient-like care within the home environment
- Provide leadership and discipline specific interventions and recovery-focused care in the home
- Demonstrate advanced skills in mental health assessment, risk assessment, therapeutic interventions, least restrictive practices and improved outcomes, using evidence based best practice
- Provide supervision and support mental health clinicians (AH2/RPN3) and early career entry level clinicians
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and receive supervision and support through professional development
About you:
Formal Qualifications
- This is a multidisciplinary role open to RPN4/AH3 (Social Workers, Psychologists or Occupational Therapists). Must hold relevant degree, registration and/or membership as per attached Position Description
Essential
- 5 years’ previous experience in clinical practice as a mental health/psychiatric nurse, preferably with young people
- Passionate about mental health care and in making a positive impact to the lives of young people and their families/carers
- Ability to develop, implement and evaluate client centred individual service plans, risk assessments and diagnostic formulations
- Ability to provide, or develop skills in, integrated assessment, treatment and care for consumers with a range of diagnosis including mood disorders, early psychosis, personality and eating disorders
