SHIELD Project Manager

 

VICNISS (Victorian healthcare-associated infection surveillance) is a leading Australian organisation based at Melbourne Health which is responsible for infection surveillance, prevention and control, aiming to optimise infection prevention and control practice in order to deliver the safest quality of care in acute and aged care sectors. The investigator team For the SHIELD project includes leaders from VICNISS coordinating centre, working in collaboration with infection prevention experts from other universities and hospitals.

 

Your new role:  

The role of project manager will involve responsibilities related to the development, implementation and evaluation of a point prevalence survey (PPS) for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) undertaken in Victorian hospitals, Specifically the role includes;

 

  • Development of user content and resource material for participating hospitals
  • Recruitment of pilot and rollout hospitals for the PPS
  • Oversight of nurse educators as they provide training to existing Infection Prevention staff in Victorian hospitals to achieve competence in PPS methodology
  • Coordinating the statewide PPS in Victorian hospitals
  • Liaising with key stakeholders including investigator teams responsible for leading SHIELD projects
  • Consumer engagement to facilitate Investigator-led qualitative interviews with a variety of consumers, including patients who have had an HAI,
  • Providing telephone and email helpdesk assistance
  • Assisting in analyses of survey data
  • Writing reports and/or assisting with preparation of peer-reviewed publications

 

About you: 

  • You have a degree in a health-related discipline (e.g. nursing, pharmacy, science, or biomedical sciences
  • You have health service research skills with a track record in team-based research
  • You have previous experience in project management
  • You have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • You have a high level of self-motivation and initiative to organise group activities and meetings, with the ability to be flexible and work to tight deadlines
  • You pay strong attention to detail and think logically with the ability to maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date records
  • You are knowledgeable in data handling systems and have the ability to adapt to other relevant software and IT systems
  • You have the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
  • You may also have experience in qualitative research methods and infection prevention and control
