The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) part of the Parkville Precinct and is one of Australia's leading public hospitals, providing a comprehensive range of specialist medical, surgical, and mental health services, as well as rehabilitation, aged care, specialist clinics and community programs.
The ICU Equipment Technician reports to the ICU NUM and ICU Equipment and Clinical Assistant Manager and will be responsible for day-to-day management of equipment and consumables and ensure day to day Clinical assistant staffing supports the operational needs of the Unit.
The ICU Equipment Technician works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team in the provision of patient focused holistic health care to deliver a quality service and achieve best patient outcome possible.

About the role:
- The equipment technician manages, coordinates, and supervises the storage and availability of consumables and equipment, ensuring they are safe, functional, and readily accessible.
- They are responsible for ensuring risk management activities are completed, including the documentation, investigation, and resolution of incidents.
- The equipment technician demonstrates awareness of cost-effective practices and fiscal responsibility, contributing to future planning and equipment procurement processes with financial analysis in mind
- They ensure the accuracy of electronic rosters for payroll purposes, authorize shift changes and overtime, and manage complaints in line with organisational timeframes
- The role includes providing ongoing training and educational updates to the Clinical Assistant group through weekly presentations and daily safety huddles
About you:
Essential -
- Holds a Health Service Assistant III certificate
- Previous experience within an Equipment Technician role
Desirable -
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and work well both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrates management and leadership skills and is a positive role model, working within the values of the MH framework.
- Demonstrated provision of high-quality patient centred care.
- Basic computer skills - Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams
