This is a 12-month 0.7 FTE Part Time Fixed Term position (60.2 Hours per Fortnight) commencing 1st February 2027.

Unit Description:
The Endoscopy Fellow is a one-year program that will see the successful applicant have the opportunity to negotiate the remainder of available sessions to enhance their own individual experience in Endoscopy. The position comes with associated research opportunities, advanced Endoscopy training and attendance at multi-disciplinary meetings.
About the role:
As the only advanced endoscopy fellow at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the candidate will have sole access to all therapeutic lists for their training. This includes two to three endoscopic ultrasound lists, one to two ERCP lists, as well as luminal training. There will be training in therapeutic EUS, including EUS-BD, gallbladder, and G-E, as well as novel procedures such as radiofrequency ablation. As one of two public hospitals with the Halo system, we run a therapeutic Barrett's service, including radiofrequency ablation and EMR. There are also good volumes of oesophageal, gastric, small bowel, and colonic lesions for training in endoscopic mucosal resection. We have a capsule service with opportunities for training in double balloon enteroscopy.
Fellowship Programs Educational Goals:
· Care of gastroenterology patients, with a focus on endoscopic management.
· Enhanced diagnostic, interventional and endoscopy procedural skills; including Endoscopic Ultrasound, ERCP
· Endoscopic Mucosal Resection, Luminal Stenting, Management of Barrett's Oesophagus - including RFA, Dilatation, Chromoendoscopy.
· Acute interventional management of gastroenterology emergencies.
· Involvement in hepato-pancreatico-biliary and colorectal multi-disciplinary meetings, presentation of case and understanding complex patient management.
· Attending radiology and pathology meetings to discuss endoscopy outcomes.
· Enhance knowledge on general gastroenterology disorders, their investigations, management and long term follow up.
· Participation in endoscopic audit and governance.
· Involvement in endoscopic research is expected and participation in numerous trials.
These include:
· novel device trials
· randomised trials with endoscopic intervention
· Genetic/Screening studies in combination with the Family Cancer Clinic and the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Jreissati Pancreatic Centre
**Duties will include protocol planning, ethics applications and coordinating trials, particularly with other sites in multi-centre trials.**
About You:
· Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
· Appropriate tertiary health qualifications – MBBS or equivalent
· Logbook indicating validated experience of appropriate range and number of endoscopic procedures confirming ability for independent diagnostic endoscopy.
· Previous endoscopic fellowship or higher degree desirable but not essential
· Ability to work in a team
· Well-developed communication and presentation skills
Academic, research and/or clinical components of the program:
Involvement in endoscopic research is expected and participation in numerous trials. These include:

· Randomised trials with endoscopic or drug intervention
· genetic studies in combination with the Family Cancer Clinic and the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre
· National screening studies
