We are inviting Doctors to continue their training with Royal Melbourne Hospital in 2027. Our Basic Physicians Training Year 1 (BPT1) positions deliver an extensive array of education, support, training and professional development.
The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community-based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world-renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.
Your Opportunity:
RMH can assist you in deciding on your future pathway and have a strong commitment to supporting you through all training requirements and exam preparation. The large number of rotations on offer will allow you to concentrate on your areas of interest while further developing as a junior doctor and honing your clinical skills.
The Royal Melbourne Hospital is part of the Greater Western Basic Physician Training Consortium (GWC). The objectives of the GWC are to improve, and make more equitable, the standard of basic physician training across all of its member health services - and for this to be reflected in the quality and adequacy of the basic physician trainee workforce in the GWC.
RMH trainees are expected to complete a rotation with one of our rural partners over the 12 months. In addition to the objectives of the GWC by way of providing workforce to our rural counterparts, it is our belief that the rotations provide you an experience unique to rural health services which you would not receive by remaining at RMH for the entirety of your training. It is an expectation and condition of application that you undertake a rural rotation if asked.
