We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Cardiac Surgery Team at The Royal Melbourne Hospital City Campus.

Unit Description:

The Cardiac Surgery Service at the RMH is a recognised world leader in patient care, innovation and patient safety.  It is the largest service in Victoria and the second largest in Australia.

About the role:

  • Excellent knowledge of Cardiac Surgery and Cardiology, in addition to good overall knowledge of medicine in surgery.
  • Experienced in and independently able to perform: - conduit harvest, - right and left internal thoracic arteries, radial artery. 
  • Instituting Cardio Pulmonary Bypass (and discontinuation) both centrally and peripherally.  Intra-Aortic Balloon pump insertion.
  • Able to independently perform – straight forward Coronary Artery Bypass Graft surgery, aortic valve replacement, mitral valve replacement.
  • Experience in patient care including preoperative assessment, intra-operative / operating
  • room, intensive care unit, high dependency unit, ward, postoperative review and follow up.
  • Experience in the conduct of audit, and of clinical trials.
  • Substantial experience in clinical research, and a track record of appropriate publications and                                         
  • Presentations at professional meetings.

 

About You:

  • Current General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
  • Appropriate tertiary health qualifications – MBBS or equivalent
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Well-developed communication and presentation skills.
