Grade 2 Social Worker - Neurosurgery & Neuro-oncology

  • Full time, ongoing role based at the Royal Melbourne Hospital City Campus.
  • Be part of the supportive and collaborative Social Work department, and the large multi-disciplinary Allied Health team in the neurosurgery service.

This position will provide the successful applicant with opportunities to showcase their experience working in a well-supported multi-disciplinary team environment, primarily within the neurosurgery / neuro-oncology team. The Social Work team consists of over 40 staff members who work across the City and Royal Park Campuses in acute, sub-acute and community based services across a range of specialties. 

 

Your new role

  • Complete psychosocial assessments and provide emotional support and counselling to patients and their families and/or carers in neurosurgery & neuro-oncology.
  • You will be supported by team leaders (grade 3) and clinical leads (grade 4) on site.
  • Be part of and contribute to a dynamic and progressive Social Work team.
  • Foster positive team and workplace culture as a grade 2 clinician.

 

About you

  • You are a qualified Social Worker (either current member or current eligibility for AASW) with work experience as a hospital Social Worker.
  • You are an adaptable, quick learner with proven ability to work autonomously in hospital environments.
  • You are able to deliver excellent consumer focussed clinical care to patients and their carers.
  • You have the experience and skills to mentor and supervise junior staff and students.
