Grade 3 Chief Medical Imaging Technologist - Mammographer

Royal Melbourne Hospital

 

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of mammographers performing screening mammography at Footscray, Essendon and Parkville BreastScreen, including a rotation to the assessment clinic at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Park Campus.
  • The role includes screening and assessment work, plus a minimum of two administrative days.
  • Business hours only, no evening or weekend work.

BreastScreen Victoria is a population screening program which reduces the impact of breast cancer and saves lives through early detection.  North Western BreastScreen (NWBS) is located within the Royal Melbourne Hospital and provides this service to the eligible population in this region of Melbourne and rural Victoria.

 

Your new role:  

  • Lead a team of screening mammographers delivering high-quality standards.
  • Foster a respectful and caring environment, delivering the best outcome for all patients.
  • Oversee quality assurance activities as specified by the BreastScreen National Accreditation Standard (NAS) and Royal Australian and New Zealand College Radiologist (RANZCR) requirements.
  • Work with mammographers in the north western region and oversee the rotation through assessment clinics.
  • Teach and supervise work up tomosynthesis mammography and procedures including biopsies.
  • Lead the team through ongoing education and training on new technology.
  • Liaise and work closely with clinical and allied health team members.
  •  Actively participate in BSV quality assurance meetings and other program activities.
  • Deputise for the Program Manager as required.

 

About you: 

  • Experienced mammographer in a similar senior role.
  • Experienced in providing training and support to a team of mammographers.
  • You have excellent people and communication skills.
  • You have an Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy recognised Diploma or Degree in Medical Radiation Technology.
  • You are licenced under the Radiation Protection Act 1982 to operate irradiating apparatus in Victoria.
  • You have current Medical Radiation Practitioner AHPRA Registration.
