Associate Nurse Unit Manager – RMH 2SE Cardiology Day ward

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate and dedicated Senior Cardiac Nurse to join our team, located at The Royal Melbourne – City Campus.
The ward 2 South East consists of a pre-admission clinic for cardiology and cardio-thoracic patients as well as a cardiology day ward (12 beds) and a procedure room, where elective patients come for a variety of procedures including EPS/RFA, angiogram, PCI, PPM, ICD, generator replacements, TOE/DCR, and Ajmaline challenges. The ward also prepares cardio-thoracic patients the week prior or day of surgery. There is a strong collaborative approach across the Cardiac Service Division with a team-based approach to nursing.
The Associate Nurse Manager is a member of the nursing leadership team on the ward/ unit who assists the Nurse Unit Manager to operationalise the core values of the organisation and plays a pivotal role in meeting broader organisational imperatives. This role supports excellence in clinical practice and promotes the development of nurses, ensuring the philosophy of nursing and standards of practice are consistently reflected in professional practice and patient care. Together with the Nurse Manager, the Associate Nurse Manager is responsible for managing clinical risk and implementing systems and processes to improve patient outcomes. The Associate Nurse Unit Manager facilitates timely patient access and flow across the continuum of care.
What will your typical day look like?
- Support and promote preceptorship including undertaking the preceptor role.
- Developed assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving and prioritisation skills.
- Perform nursing interventions and procedures in accordance with Royal Melbourne Hospital policy and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to organizational standards and mandatory requirements but not limited to Infection Control, Hand Hygiene, Medication Safety, Basic Life Support, Manual Handling, Risk management and Occupational health and safety.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- You are an AHPRA registered Nurse and have a postgraduate qualification in Cardiac Care and are willing to work a range of AM/PM shifts within our supportive and dedicated multidisciplinary team.
- You have a minimum of three years clinical experience in the Cardiology setting.
- You are a motivated and enthusiastic member of the health care team.

- You have strong time management and prioritisation skills alongside with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
