- Provide expert financial oversight and business partnering support for the Research Portfolio at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
- Salary Packaging, 5 weeks annual leave plus ADO. Hybrid Working.
Lead with purpose at one of Victoria’s most iconic health institutions. As the Management Accountant, Research Portfolio you will provide business partnering and finance support to the Research Portfolio.
Reporting to the Finance team and working closely with stakeholders in the Research Portfolio, the position is responsible for reviewing the financial viability and performance of research studies, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, monitoring accounts receivable, and supporting financial compliance with hospital accreditation standards. Working closely with the RMH Office for Research, the role also plays a key part in enabling research governance and driving high-quality research outcomes.
Your New Role
- Operational oversight of research projects in all areas of research finance
- Conducting financial reviews to determine viability and financial performance of research studies respectively
- Ensuring studies are correctly invoiced to stakeholders (e.g. pharmaceutical, hospitals, commercial/non-commercial), with proactive tracking of upcoming invoicing and throughout the study lifecycle
- Ensure financial reporting meets the requirements of hospital accreditation
- Working in partnership and collaboration with the RMH Office for Research to drive research governance approvals and enable research endeavours.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or related field. Qualification or part qualification as a CPA or CA is desirable.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with strong skills in project budgeting, financial structures, and managing Operational and Special Purpose Funds.
- Strong understanding of contract agreements and financial reporting for grant-funded and commercial research projects.
- Highly proficient in financial systems (e.g. Oracle) and Excel, with strong general IT skills across Microsoft Office.
- An analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities, able to communicate complex financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
