About Us:

Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges. 

PYMHWS is leading a bold and values-driven transformation in youth mental health care across Melbourne’s north and west. We exist to walk alongside young people, their families, carers, supporters and kin delivering care that is accessible, inclusive, developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed, and grounded in lived experience. About the Role:

The Youth Lived Experience Consultant role brings lived expertise to recruiting and supporting a vibrant volunteer workforce of youth lived experience consultants.  Guided by your own experiences of using public mental health services, you will support young people who use PYMWHS to contribute to a range of activities, including staff selection, staff professional learning, consultation activities, and co-production. 

 

What You'll Do:

  • Together with the Manager, Youth Lived Experience, be a key contact for youth lived experience consultation and collaboration at PYMHWS
  •  Work with other staff at PYMHWS to recruit young people to be part of our lived experience volunteer register
  • Support staff to develop projects that will enable meaningful lived experience consultation and collaboration
  • Provide training to youth lived experience volunteers, to support their confidence and competence in pursuing their roles
  • Identify opportunities to expand youth lived experience consultation and collaboration at PYMWHS

About You:

✔️ Lived experience of using Victoria’s public mental health services

✔️ Experience in lived experience consultation, collaboration and/or co-design

✔️ Excellent people skills – able to engage with a wide range of stakeholder with diverse interests

✔️ Proven time management, and written communication skills will be highly regarded
