Senior HYPE Clinician providing assessment, therapy and systems informed care within an interagency team supporting young people in the KEYS program.

The Opportunity:

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and reflective Senior Mental Health Clinician to work within the KEYS residential care program, drawing upon support from HYPE and the HYPE model of Relational Clinical Care. As a Senior Mental Health Clinician in HYPE and KEYS, you will deliver early intervention mental health care for young people in the KEYS program. In addition, you will work collaboratively with the interagency and residential care teams to facilitate reflective, relational practice and professional development. This is a 12 month, fixed term appointment.

About the Role:

The KEYS Youth Mental Health Clinician is part of an innovative, interagency, interdisciplinary care team working to improve mental health outcomes for young people referred to the Keep Embracing Your Success (KEYS) residential care program. The KEYS model is funded by the DFFH as a new approach to working with vulnerable young people in the Out of Home care system, who exhibit complex, risky and challenging behaviours. KEYS Western is a partnership with Anglicare Victoria, YSAS Youth Support and Advocacy Service, VACCA and PYMHWS (formerly Orygen Specialist Programs). The interdisciplinary team consists of a Program Manager, Residential Carers, a Case manager, a Family Worker, a Cultural Support Worker, a Youth AOD Specialist, a Youth Mental Health Clinical specialist, and a Consultant Psychiatrist. 

This position will be based at PYMHWS Parkville but will be regularly on site at the residential care unit in St Albans. The incumbent will also likely be required to work clinically from the PYMHWS Sunshine site at times.  

 

What You'll Do:

  • Engage the young people in the KEYS program and conduct mental health assessments. 
  • Develop biopsychosocial treatment plans for young people in the KEYS program in collaboration with the young person, their families, and others involved in their care.  
  • Provide intensive biopsychosocial treatment for young people in the KEYS program, in collaboration with the young person, their families, and others involved in their care.  
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement a holistic case plan and support safety planning 
  • Consult with others in the interdisciplinary team to promote mental health-informed and therapeutic care.  
  • Contribute to systems-informed care through provision of and engagement in reflective practice, secondary-consultation, and capacity building within the interdisciplinary team. 

About You:

A Mental Health Clinician who is able to work both autonomously and collaboratively with the KEYS interagency care team and the PYMHWS/HYPE clinical program. You will be passionate about early intervention and evidence-based case for young people experiencing mental health difficulties and may have specific experience working with systems and families.

 

️ Eligible disciplines: RPN Grade 4 / Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and Psychologist Grade 3

️ Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)

️ Minimum 5 years’ experience in tertiary and/or youth mental health and a demonstrated ability to lead a clinical team, supervise mental health clinicians, and function both autonomously and collaboratively with other clinical and organisational leaders
