Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.
PYMHWS is leading a bold and values-driven transformation in youth mental health care across Melbourne’s north and west. The Opportunity:
This is a senior leadership role with direct accountability for designing, delivering, and evaluating major transformation initiatives that create measurable impact for young people, families, and the broader mental health system. You'll own complex transformation programs from conception to embedding, working at the intersection of clinical innovation, organizational change, and system reform. This is a fixed term 12-month position, that is likely to be extended.

About the Role:
The Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System is a key reform aiming to rebuild the system and set the foundations for change.
The Senior Transformation Manager will lead critical change activities for the Mental Health Services at PYMHWS. This role will form part of the transformative team and co-lead communication and design of changes within Mental Health. The Senior Transformation Manager will liaise with all stakeholders building foundationally strong relationships, to support and improve the management of change within the organisation whilst ensuring initiatives are continually evaluated and contributing to the changes aim.
What You'll Do:
Drive System Change: Lead transformation initiatives that integrate PYMHWS with sector partners including Department of Health, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Western Health, and Orygen, positioning PYMHWS as Victoria's leader in youth mental health innovation.
Own Major Programs: Take direct accountability for large-scale transformation projects spanning service redesign, technology implementation, workforce development, and consumer experience enhancement across five metropolitan locations.
Shape the Future: Build and maintain a transformation pipeline informed by cutting-edge research, lived experience insights, and strategic foresight, ensuring PYMHWS remains at the forefront of youth mental health practice.
Lead Strategic Partnerships: Represent PYMHWS in sector forums and government engagement, influencing policy and driving collaborative initiatives that benefit young people across Victoria.
Build Capability: Develop and lead high-performing transformation teams while building organisational capability in change management and innovation across multidisciplinary clinical and operational teams.
Deliver Results: Establish and drive performance accountability through real-time transformation dashboards linked to strategic KPIs, consumer outcomes, and system-level impact measures.
About You:
✔️ A seasoned transformation senior manager with 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in health, mental health, or human services environments.
✔️ You have moved beyond project management to become a strategic architect of organizational change—with a track record of leading transformation programs that deliver measurable system-wide impact.
✔️ Operate effectively across multiple complex systems (clinical, operational, political, community) while driving change that often challenges established ways of working
✔️ Motivated by the opportunity to create lasting, positive change for young people while working collaboratively in Victoria’s first standalone mental health and wellbeing service for young people.
