Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

The Opportunity:

Join PYMHWS Youth Prevention and Recovery Care (YPARC), a 20-bed sub-acute residential program supporting young people aged 16–25. We provide short-term, recovery-focused care for those stepping up to avoid hospital admission or stepping down to transition back to the community.

The Senior Intake Clinician is a specialist role focused on leading intake and assessment at Parkville YPARC, ensuring trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and collaborative pathways into the program.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Intake Clinician to provide clinical leadership and manage the intake and referral process, deliver high-quality assessments, be point of liaison for referrers, and work collaboratively with staff, young people and families to support recovery

About the Role:

As the Senior Intake Clinician, you will lead and coordinate the intake and referral process, ensuring timely, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented access to the YPARC program. You will oversee referral screening, assessment, collateral gathering, and bed flow management, while supporting young people, families, and referrers through the entry process. Collaboration with the multidisciplinary team is essential to ensure smooth transitions, continuity of care, and integration with other support options.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct intake assessments and gather collateral from young people, families, and referrers to inform recovery-oriented care planning.
  • Provide timely communication and support to families, referrers, and partner agencies to ensure smooth program entry and service flow.
  • Contribute to complex care planning, multidisciplinary collaboration, and external stakeholder engagement to strengthen pathways of care.
  • Promote trauma-informed, culturally safe, and family-inclusive practice, while supporting continuous service improvement and safety standards.

 About You:

An experienced Clinician with background in coordinating intake and referral processes within public mental health, including assessment, triage, collateral gathering, and care planning.

✔️ Eligible disciplines: RPN Grade 4 / Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and Psychologist Grade 3

✔️ Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)

✔️ Minimum 5 years’ experience in tertiary and/or youth mental health and a demonstrated ability to lead a clinical team, supervise mental health clinicians, and function both autonomously and collaboratively with other clinical and organisational leaders

✔️ Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills
