About Us:

Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

PYMHWS is leading a bold and values-driven transformation in youth mental health care across Melbourne’s north and west. We exist to walk alongside young people, their families, carers, supporters and kin delivering care that is accessible, inclusive, developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed, and grounded in lived experience. Our service model is shaped by the voices of young people and their communities, and underpinned by a commitment to safety, equity, and continuous learning.

At PYMHWS, we are working with our community and partners to build in a future where all young people can access world-class mental health support, close to home. As we grow, we are looking for passionate, skilled, and visionary professionals to join us in shaping a new era of youth mental health in Victoria.

The Opportunity:

The Senior Family Clinician position provides an opportunity to positively influence the mental health and wellbeing of young people by embedding strong family and carer engagement into care delivery. Working within a collaborative and forward-thinking multidisciplinary team, you will contribute specialist family-focused, evidence-based interventions that support sustainable recovery for young people and their families. This ongoing role offers scope for professional development and leadership, while playing a key role in shaping and advancing family-inclusive youth mental health practice across Victoria.

Why Join PYMHWS?

  • Salary packaging options, up to $11,600 tax free earnings
  • Employee wellbeing focused, access to EAP
  • Flexible, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture

About the Role:

As the Senior Family Work Clinician, you will lead and champion family-inclusive practice, offering direct family therapy, counselling, mediation, and psychoeducation, while building the team’s capacity through training and consultation. This family therapy may occur alongside individual therapy or group work or other programs so coordination with other support options is important. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate care, and ensure smooth entry and exit transitions for young people and their families/carers.

What You'll Do:

  • Build capacity within the team for integrated family-inclusive care across complex mental health presentations.
  • Provide family- focused interventions, including single session family consultations
  • Collaborate closely with young people, families, carers, and clinicians to enhance engagement and treatment outcomes.
  • Develop and support a framework for family engagement in the Parkville YPARC program in conjunction with other senior clinicians
  • Work from an inclusive and sensitive practice to young people and their families/carers from Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTQIA backgrounds
