Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within PYMHWS, you will be a vital part of delivering compassionate and inclusive care to young people. About the Role:

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse on the Workforce Resource Team, you'll play a crucial role in delivering a new model of care for young people aged 12-25. This is a high-impact position designed for a professional who thrives on variety. You will apply your expertise across multiple departments to provide targeted, evidence-based interventions and coordinate complex care plans. Your work ensures we can deliver safe, effective care where and when it's needed most, directly supporting our mission to transform youth mental health services across Melbourne's north and west.

The Workforce Resource Team provides coverage across a range of services. Depending on your experience and skills, you will be able to work within the Inpatient Unit, the Hospital in the Home program, and the Youth Access Team located at Footscray.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Deliver evidence-based assessments and therapeutic interventions for young people with complex mental health needs.
  • Manage and coordinate complex care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and external providers.
  • Implement robust risk assessments and safety planning to ensure the wellbeing of young people and staff.
  • Advocate for the needs of young people, ensuring their voices are central to service delivery and decision-making.

About You:

We are looking for dedicated and skilled Registered Psychiatric Nurses who are passionate about transforming youth mental health care. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with a strong clinical foundation and a commitment to our youth-first values.

  • Experience in delivering targeted, evidence-based interventions and assessments for young people with complex mental health needs.
  • Proven ability to manage complex care plans and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external service providers.
  • Strong clinical skills in risk assessment, safety planning, and providing brief interventions for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to build rapport with young people, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • High level of flexibility and reliability to thrive in a dynamic, varied work environment.
  • A deep commitment to a safe, inclusive, and culturally sensitive approach to care.
