Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

career psychologists supporting young people with significant mental health difficulties and their families, and develop their early career psychology skills at the same time.

About the Role:
The Principal Psychology Educator is responsible for the development of the PYMHWS psychology workforce, psychology registrar program and for all post-graduate psychology student placements across PYMHWS.
Function autonomously as well as work collaboratively with the PYMHWS Director of Psychology, Program Manager, Manager of Clinical Training, Psychology Discipline Senior/s, Clinical Stream Leadership, and other PYMHWS Clinical Educator staff, to plan and develop training programs and initiatives consistent with best practice standards and evidence-based care, that are in-line with the strategic direction and vision of PYMHWS.
What You'll Do:
- You will plan, develop and implement supervision, training, education and professional development of psychologists across PYMHWS.
- The role will include the supervision and mentoring of PYMHWS Psychology Registrars, and liaison with clinical supervisors and leaders and other stakeholders to develop best-practice educational packages, in-line with the strategic direction and vision of PYMHWS.
- You will ensure that the psychology education programs are designed, implemented and evaluated so the service capability of the psychology workforce in PYMHWS is enhanced, and excellent patient care is provided.
- The role will oversee pre-qualification positions, the psychology registrar program and post-graduate psychology student placements.
About You:
- Registration as a Psychologist under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) with practice endorsement as a Clinical, Forensic or Clinical Neuro Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Masters or Doctoral qualification in Clinical, Neuro or Forensic Psychology.
- Approved supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in clinical practice within the mental health field, including young people experiencing mental health disorders.
- An excellent understanding of the rationale and evidence for early intervention and experience of how this is delivered in PYMHWS.
- Experience supervising and mentoring early career Psychologists working in a public mental health setting.
