Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

The Opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated Postgraduate Mental Health Nurse to deliver high-quality, youth-focused care while undertaking a postgraduate program. This opportunity is ideal for a Registered Nurse who has completed a graduate mental health nurse year (or equivalent) and is eager to specialise in youth mental health, further develop clinical expertise, and make a meaningful contribution to the lives of young people and their families, carers and kin.
This is a fixed-term position aligned with the postgraduate academic year, offering structured learning, supervision, and the opportunity to be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

About the Role:
The Postgraduate Mental Health Nurse position offers a unique opportunity to specialise in youth mental health nursing while completing a postgraduate diploma in mental health nursing. The role is designed to support Grade 2 Registered Nurses in developing advanced clinical knowledge and skills across diverse youth mental health settings.
This position provides the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people and their families through recovery-oriented, person-centred care. You will work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to innovative practice, high-quality outcomes, and continuous service improvement. With structured learning, mentoring, and exposure to a range of clinical experiences, this role not only strengthens your expertise but also prepares you for a career as a specialist youth mental health nurse.
We have opportunities available located in Parkville, Footscray, Sunshine and Werribee.
What You'll Do:
- Provide safe, recovery-focused care to young people and their families.
- Apply postgraduate learning to strengthen clinical skills in youth mental health.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.
- Participate in supervision and reflective practice to support ongoing professional development.
- Contribute to service improvement and evidence-based youth mental health initiatives.
About You:
A motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse eager to specialise in youth mental health nursing and develop advanced clinical skills.
✔ Bachelor or Masters Degree in Nursing
✔ Experience in mental health nursing ideally the completion of a graduate mental health nurse year (or equivalent).
✔ Strong clinical and recovery-focused skills, with the ability to apply learning in diverse youth mental health settings.
✔ Excellent teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary environment.
✔ Commitment to continuous learning, clinical supervision, professional development, and improving youth mental health services.
